Governing Body

Governing Body

The Governing Body of Lambton Primary School is made up of Local Authority representatives, parents, co-opted governors, staff governors and the head teacher.

The Governing Body is a corporate body who set the aims of the school together with the staff and put a range of policies in place to support that direction. Governors are accountable to parents and the local community through OFSTED, and they work with the head teacher and senior staff to that end. We generally meet twice a term and monitor performance through reports and discussions and offer support and challenge as appropriate. Governors are responsible for staffing, finance, premises, curriculum and future planning of the school.

Governors believe it is important that Governing Boards reflect the diversity of the communities they serve. Diverse Boards promote inclusive environments and provide diverse role models for staff and young people.

The Board collects data on the diversity of the Board, including data on age, gender and ethnicity. That data is used to inform recruitment and training needs, accessibility and to ensure there is always a diverse range of perspectives around the table to support robust decision making.

Due to our relatively small Board, we do not publish this diversity data online because individual governors could be identified, and we have a legal obligation to protect their personal data.

Each member of the Governing Body serves a four-year term. The current members of the Governing Body are as follows:
