Food packaged and sold at school for summer fairs and assemblies and other social gatherings
On occasions at school we package food e.g. sweets, biscuits for members of our school community to enjoy. This may be packets of sweets or a selection of biscuits to sell at our class assemblies, or our summer fair. When we organize such events in school, the selling of food items is solely to raise funds to benefit all of the pupils in school.
We take advice from Environmental Health and always follow the guidelines around packaging of biscuits and sweets on the school premises. Staff members are qualified in the relevant food hygiene for such events.
Parents/carers are not under any obligation to buy or take part in any activity if they choose not to or feel that it could impact on their child’s individual needs. If a parent would prefer to bring a treat from home for their child rather than be unsure about safety or ingredients, please feel free to do so. At the Summer Fair and similar events, please understand that members of the school community do contribute home-baked or shop-bought cakes or biscuits and we cannot guarantee their absolute allergy/hygiene condition.
